CSS-Only Sites: Are We There Yet?

Yes and no. Check out this site and www.synaxisworks.com. These sites use CSS-only layout, viz. no tables. There are some good things and some bad things. On the good side: separates form and content. So, to edit the appearance, not just the styles, you can edit only the CSS. On the bad side: not compatible with older browsers. Hard to debug layouts because of cryptic rules about 'float', 'clear', and so on. But, really, does all this matter that much? Aside from sort of philosophical cleanliness, with dynamic sites it's easy to edit the layout globally anyway. Sometimes I feel like "pure CSS" is one of those concepts interesting only to Web insiders.
